BACKGROUND
Ranger is a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog (CSV) and a potential future outcross stud dog for the Tamaskan Dog breed (pending ITR approval).
He was born in Croatia at a local breeder in Sibinik, on the Adriatic coast.
Originally, both of Ranger's parents (Tito and Veda) came from Wild Instinct kennel in Italy.
Unfortunately, Wild Instinct's ENCI breeding license was revoked/suspended for several bloodlines that were considered to have recent wolfdog ancestry (not purebred CSV) including Ranger's parents.
Thankfully, that isn't an issue for us since we don't breed or show purebred CSV, nor are we registered with the FCI or ENCI.
However, knowing the exact wolf content is important, which one of the perks of having Ranger EMBARK tested so we know the exact amount.
While Ranger's wolf content isn't too high (approximately the same as Nissa and Oberon) we plan to only breed him to our low/no content Tamaskan females, so that his potential future offspring will all be under 20% wolf content.
Ranger lives with us at Sylvaen Acres, our family estate/homestead, and he is our much-loved personal companion and family pet.
Hopefully, he will pass all of the required health testing at 12+ months old to qualify for breeding once he is of age: at 24+ months old... stay tuned for more info!
HEALTH
DNA Profile: EMBARK
Ranger is a carrier of Degenerative Myelopathy (DM). However, all of our females are DM clear so this means that 50% of their offspring will be DM carriers and 50% will be DM clear (none affected).
Soon, we will also get Ranger tested for Pituitary Dwarfism (PD) which is a genetic disorder that exists in the CSV breed.
Unfortunately, the DNA test for PD isn't yet included in the EMBARK panel so we will test him separately.

TEMPERAMENT
Ranger is playful and outgoing... he is confident and he loves people of all ages, including young children.
He loves to run but he also listens well and is very obedient, with excellent recall.
